  • Storage: you can store your wig in the plastic bag it came in. This way you do not need to take up a lot of room if you have many wigs.  Remember to keep the tissue paper it came with as this will help in the wig cap maintaining its natural shape. Alternatively, you can use a wig stand or wig hanger.  The only downside to using this storage method is your wig may get a bit dusty if you are not wearing it every day.

Fitting your wig: It is ideal to wear a Velcro or silicon wig grip (you can purchase these from our store or from eBay). Personally, I prefer to wear these as they keep the wig firmly in place without the need for extra annoying clips or wearing a cap that makes my head feel hot.

You may prefer to use a wig cap, wig liner or cotton cap under the hairpiece but if like me you live in Queensland, I find these caps can make your head feel hot.

Washing and styling your wig: In general, try washing every 10 to 15 uses, but be careful to use the appropriate products and techniques. Gently brush your wig, then immerse for one minute in warm water with shampoo (gently “swirling” throughout the mixture).

Repeat with conditioner and rinse and blot the wig afterward on a towel, allowing it to air dry. Avoid rubbing, teasing or scrubbing your wig (or brushing it when wet), as you may damage the hair completely. You can add leave in conditioner to make you wig extra soft.

Gently squeeze the water from the wig before placing on a well aerated wig stand to dry. Do not comb or brush your wig until it is completely dry. When the wig is dry, brush according to your hairstyle. Use short strokes for waves and curls, and long strokes for smooth styles. Many of these wigs will maintain their original style and you may not need to do anymore then give it a brush and store away as synthetic wigs do not lose their style and simply return to shape after each wash without restyling.
